Portraits

Up until now I've used my lighting gear/diffusers mainly for either close up small product or interior/real estate purposes. I've experimented using them with self portraits a couple times but nothing very serious. This time I decided to really try experimenting with portraits. The first ones are pretty simple set ups but in the end I think I may have overdone it. I moved the lights around a little and experimented with different strengths until I got what you see here. I learned a lot. Next time I will definitely try to use a back light and keep my strobes power more consistent. I think they turned out well for a first attempt though.

After getting used to the lighting setup a little better I tried putting colored gels on and seeing how that looked. I tried red, yellow, and blue but ended up just using the red and blue. These ones are a little strange but I think they turned out fun. Again, I learned a lot and now see how I could've done things differently but in the end this was a learning experience more than anything. I'm pretty happy with how these turned out and look forward to trying again in the future.
